Lumpy Space Princess, Couple Bears and Cute Paws Butter Cookies Piping Techniques

I love butter cookies and also kawaii stuffs, why not make CUTE butter cookies? I am not a pro but baking is one of my hobbies. I have been making these cookies for 1 year now, people always get impressed by how cute and delicious they are, so yea, today I am going to share with you how I make them.

Cookies Recipes taken from Eugenie Kitchen
Any piped cookies recipe will do but I love this particular cookie recipe so much that I won't change a thing about it, its delicious, easy to make and will hold its shape nicely in the oven. Please check out more of Eugenie's Recipe. She makes beauutiful cut cookies and another of my favourite is her Vanilla Souffle Recipe

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (170g)
  • ½ cup + 1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar (78g)
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (10ml)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg white of a large egg (33g)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (187g)
  • Melted chocolate of your choice (milk, semi-sweet, dark) for decoration, optional
  • 1. First, with a whisk, work on ¾ cup of softened unsalted butter until smooth. Some people ask why my butter is yellow. Well, I use Anchor butter from New Zealand which is made of free-range cow milk.
  • 2. Then sift in confectioners’ sugar: ½ cup and 1 tablespoon. And whisk until creamy and homogeneous.
  • 3. And add in 1 egg white. Make sure your egg is at room temperature. Then add 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract and 1/8 teaspoon of salt. And whisk until combined. Salt makes a huge difference when it comes to cookies.
  • 4. And sift in 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour and fold until smooth. It is a fancy cookie but it is an easy recipe which requires only a few ingredients. It suits me perfectly. Not only me but everybody.
  • PIPE
  • 5. Then transfer to a pastry bag fitted with a large star pastry tip. Today I’m using Wilton 4B. And I will pipe the cookie on a Silpat. "W" is a typical shape for sables viennois. Pipe with confidence from start to finish. And "O" shape will make a popular Korean cookie, ButterRing cookie. You can make for about 30 cookies with this recipe.
  • BAKE
  • 6. Now bake in the oven preheated to 360 degrees F. (180 C.) until the edges turn brown for 10 to 12 minutes. The time depends on the size and shape of your cookies.

I am using these French piping tip. The big tip is for easier piping in case your dough is more firm. But for this tutorial, I am going to use the small tip because I like my cookies smaller, thinner and I can pipe more cookies, which means, more cookies to snack on.
I am using some heart shaped sprinkles. For LSP, you will need some yellow star shaped sprinkles.

Design 1: Lumpy Space Princess

For those of you who don't know who Lumpy Space Princess is,.

Pipe according to the shape above, I find this shape similar to LSP. I am using purple dye, it is slight reddish, but keep in mind LSP have a more cool blue purple. Squeeze small circles and pull away.
Remember to tap down to flatten the peaks but keep the french pattern. You don't want to overpat them. We want that lumpy feel.
I am just placing some yellow star shaped sprinkles on the first circle I piped.

I had finish piping all of my purple cookie dough. How beautiful. Keep in mind the dye I am using will have a brighter and deeper color after its baked, You might want to experiment with your food dye so you will get the exact LSP colour.
The final product!!

Design 2: Couple Bears

Just pipe an oval shaped swirl at first. Then dot on two ears at the sides. Don't forget to tap down those overpeaks on the center of the cookie and the ears, just to make it neat.
You can make a boy and girl bear. For the girl bear, just place two heart shaped sprinkles on either ears, at the margin between the one ear and the face. For the boy girl, place two heart sprinkles on the bottom of the face. Easy!!

A tray of unbaked couple bears. I made them in a pair with the same color code.

Finish baking. Purple sprinkles made the perfect bow tie and ribbons.

The final product. They are just lovely.

Design 3: Paw-Paw Cookies

Fill your bag with some cookie dough and start piping the oval shaped swirl (same as the couple bear). Pipe 4 more circular dots on top of the oval. Remember to press down any over peaks to make them neat. Place 4 sprinkles (of same colour) on each "paws" that you have created. You can definitely use different colour sprinkles but I find the same colour neat and cute.

My whole tray of unbaked paw-paw cookies!!

The final product!! They are soooooo cute!!

That's all from me. Signing off with love.
Have fun experimenting with different designs with your piped cookie dough!!
